For some reason, I thought Gatti-Town in South Austin was old. I have no idea why. In my brain, Gatti-Land in Round Rock was the new facility and Gatti-Town had been around awhile. So I was quite surprised to visit the big, bright, flashy Gatti-Town in Southpark Meadows with my family last week. Clearly, I was wrong about this place.
Gatti-Town's pizza buffet and salad bar were nice, but the biggest hit with my kids was the Icee machines (which Gatti-Land does not have. Listen up, Gatti-Land - you need those!). You can't go wrong with free refillable Icees. I had three. We sugared up the boys and let them loose on the "The Midway" game room.
Bumper cars, and bowling, and Whac a Mole, oh my! The boys had a great time bopping from game to game. The night we visited there wasn't much of a crowd, which was nice. However, several of the games required an attendant to operate them and there was only one working, so we didn't get to try everything. I imagine if you go on a Tuesday, which is Half Price Games Day, there will be a lot more guests and hopefully more attendants to accommodate them. Games at full price range from 25¢ (Kiddie Coaster and Nick Toons Racing) to $2.25 (Bumper Cars). Bowling is $1.50 and the ride-on Frog Hopper is $2. You pay for games using a game card, which you can purchase at the Gatti-Town entrance when you pay for your buffets. Gatti-Land game cards will not work at Gatti-Town.
There are several daily specials that can help you save at Gatti-Town. I think the Moms Eat Free on Mondays and the Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays specials are great if you have smaller kids who you can still fool into thinking that sitting on a game is the same thing as paying to play it. Once your child wises up and wants you to pay, Half Price Games are the way to go!
Kids under 2 always eat free. Here is the buffet pricing (everyone that enters Gatti-Town must purchase a buffet):
Check out the Buffet PLUS offers and remember that if you buy a game card, its value doubles on Half Price Games Tuesdays.
One more way to save is to keep your eye out for a coupon. If you pick up a free issue of the January, 2012 Parent:Wise Austin magazine, you can find a Gatti-Town coupon on page 11 for one free kid buffet (for ages 10 and under) with the purchase of one adult buffet at regular price.

Thanks to Austin Kids Guide and GattiTown for inviting us to visit, eat, and play for next to nothing. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated to share this post.
